What are you focusing on?

Sometimes you may not actually be overwhelmed, you’re just focusing too much on what others are doing and it’s draining the strength of your focus. Take a break if you need to, from whatever is draining you.

Have you ever wondered why all of a sudden you feel less excited about your achievement when you discover that someone else is doing better than you? Let me tell you, the success of others does not invalidate your hard work, dedication and consistency towards growth.
Comparison seems to be one of the thieves of your Joy. It can gradually make you resent something you once earnestly prayed for.  You should only allow things stir you up to be better not push you to the place of unhealthy competition and comparison.

You once prayed and did everything you could to get that dream job, but then you later discovered that an old school mate is earning way better than you or has his own company. With this, you no longer see the need to be grateful, you think of everything unpleasant that happens on your job and feel you’re better deserving of your own company. You secretly stalk them on social media to see if you can find any fault in them or anything to console yourself that you’re not backward in life. But you fail to remember that at a point, all you wanted was a good job.

You wouldn’t be able to focus and carry out your work effectively when you’re always looking at what others are doing. This is not to say you shouldn’t be motivated or inspired by others. But when you need to do a work, there’s a level of focus and attention needed for you to create something lasting and impactful, not just what you think will temporarily move people.

Your desire to be great or expand your sphere of operations shouldn’t be from the place of envy or wanting to prove a point. If something stirs you up to jealousy, you don’t have to act immediately, take sometime to reflect and think back. Ask yourself “why am i feeling this way? What specifically is the root cause of this? It could be something within you that you need to sincerely address, it could be something about the content or content creator you saw. Hopefully I’ll write something on content creators that stir you up wrongly,  but in the mean time be mindful of such heart postures and be intentional about being sincere with yourself.

Remember, you can’t be effective at something you haven’t given your time and focus to.

Keep being real
